Most exporters buy from a trader and sell it on. We employ people where the crops grow — in Madagascar, Benin, Tanzania, Kenya and India — and run the trade from our head office in Dubai.

Our own cleaning facility and warehouse — the base for more than 2,000 MT of cloves a year, alongside black pepper, vanilla and black eye beans, all cleaned, graded and stored at origin before shipment.

The difference

Three things change when you own the origin.

Every exporter says they source at origin. Fewer employ people there. These are the practical consequences for a buyer.

You buy in season, not on offer.

Pulses, cloves and cashew are weather-driven crops with a short buying window. Someone on the ground buys when the crop is right — a trading desk buys when a supplier calls, usually because that supplier wants to move something.

Quality is checked before it ships.

A rejection found at the destination port is a claim, a delay and a relationship problem. Found at origin, it is simply a re-clean.

The price has one margin in it.

Buying direct removes the intermediary layer between the farm and the container. That is where our competitiveness comes from — never from cutting the specification.

The process

From the crop to your port.

  1. 01

    Buying

    Through the season, against positions and contracts already written.

  2. 02

    Cleaning

    Machine cleaned, graded and sorted; hand-sorted where required.

  3. 03

    Warehousing

    Held at origin or in Dubai to supply through the off-season.

  4. 04

    Packing

    25 and 50 kg bulk or retail packs from Ras Al Khor.

  5. 05

    Documents

    Invoice, B/L, origin, phyto, fumigation and inspection.

  6. 06

    Shipment

    At origin or ex-Dubai, on FOB, CFR or CIF terms.

The hardest thing for an importer is not finding one container. It is finding the same specification again in four months.
